General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal organs including the esophagus, stomach, colon, liver, gallbladder and bile ducts, as well as breasts and hernias. It also includes vascular surgery. The vascular surgeon is trained in the diagnosis and management of diseases affecting the arteries and veins.
Many surgeries are laparoscopic. Using the key hole approach, the incisions are much smaller (1 cm or less in the place of 15 cm long incisions), the scars are less painful, there is less stay in the hospital with early return to normal activity.
The surgeons at Beaver Medical Group perform pre and post-operative visits at the Beaver Medical Group offices and perform surgeries at Redlands Community Hospital or Inland Surgery Center.
