BMG Expanding Ophthalmology Services at Banning Specialty Care Center
August 17, 2010
Banning, CA---Beaver Medical Group (BMG) is expanding the range of ophthalmological services offered at its Banning Specialty Care Center (SCC). By relocating the SCC ophthalmology services within the facility and purchasing new technology, patients will have greater access and more convenience when they need eye care.
“We have moved the department from the second floor to the first and acquired additional diagnostic equipment, allowing us to offer a more comprehensive range of services,” states Janna Redmond, Banning Site Director. The newly remodeled ophthalmology department is closer to the main entrance, offering easier access for patients. Expanded facilities include six exam rooms, a separate procedure room, and camera room. A new visual field room houses equipment used to measure changes in peripheral vision, one of the symptoms of glaucoma. If left untreated, glaucoma can lead to blindness. A recently acquired InterOcular Lens (IOL) machine measures the lens of the eye of patients who require cataract surgery. Patients requiring evaluation before the Banning SCC purchased its new IOL machine had to travel to Redlands for the study.
“Our new ophthalmology department includes a dedicated waiting room with restrooms nearby and a warm, welcoming décor,” Redmond notes. “Overall, it’s a much more tranquil environment.” In addition to offering the expertise of ophthalmologists, the Banning SCC houses a full service Optical Shop staffed by optometrists who provide eye exams. Opticians can assist patients with ordering glasses and contacts, and help with repairing, adjusting and cleaning eyeglasses. Beaver’s optical shops carry designer frames, transition lenses, progressive no-line bifocals, and a variety of contacts for every patient including toric contacts for astigmatism, cosmetic colored contacts, daily and disposables.
The ophthalmologists who staff the Banning SCC include Michael Yoon, M.D. and Steven Rimmer, M.D. Optical Shop optometrists include Jay Kemmerer, O.D. and Shawna Lehmann, O.D. In addition to ophthalmology, the Banning SCC offers the services of physicians in a variety of specialties, including Cardiology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, OB-GYN, Oncology and Hematology, Orthopedic Surgery, Pulmonology, Radiology and Urology. Other services housed in the SCC include Cardiology Diagnostic Testing, Chemotherapy Infusion Centers, Gastroenterology Laboratories, Laboratory Services and Radiology.
