After-Hours Nurse Advice Unit Beaver Medical Group is continuing to expand and improve the services we offer to our patients. We are pleased to be able to offer a whole new concept in after-hours services. We have established a telephone triage system in order to improve the quality of care available to you through the Beaver Medical Group. Experienced Registered Nurses staff the phones to provide you with information and answer concerns and questions that arise after our physician's offices have closed for the day. This service is also available throughout the weekend and on all holidays. The nurse that answers your call will assess the situation and give precise advice for the most appropriate care. If the problem requires immediate medical attention the nurse will advise you regarding treatment (for example, either call 911 or go to the closest emergency room available to you, depending on the severity of the problem). The nurse will then notify the physician on call of the occurrence. This will be documented and sent to the patient's chart for follow-up care. If you have an urgent situation that needs medical attention, but is not an emergency, the nurse will access the problem, notify the physician on call and give you instructions, or forward the call to the physician for further assessment. Again, we will document the situation and update the patient's chart for any necessary follow-up care through your primary care physician. The hours of operation for this service, available through all our Beaver Medical Group facilities, are 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday, with continuous weekend coverage starting Friday at 5:00 p.m. until Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. There is no cost to our patients for this service.
